From Times Wire Reports

Martin Lee, Hong Kong’s preeminent champion of democracy, stepped down as leader of the territory’s most popular political party after eight years but is expected to remain a thorn in Beijing’s side for years to come.

Lee handed the Democratic Party reins to a former party vice chairman because the party charter limits leaders to four two-year terms.

Lee, 64, frequently travels overseas to ask foreign governments to press Beijing to leave freedoms alone in the former British colony. He is expected to continue lobbying.
