Liberal Jews’ Sharing of Customs Is Unwelcome

Share

Re “Making Hanukkah a Major Holiday,” Nov. 30:

It is not the job of The Times to build a story around liberal Jewish sources, i.e., Rabbi David Baron and Rabbi Bradley Shavit Artson, who take pride in sharing (diluting) our customs, traditions, and values with the non-Jewish communities.

It is not the job of these liberal Jewish sources to share our customs, traditions and values with anyone other than fellow Jews.

Practicing each other’s customs and traditions is not a good thing. For after all, the entire message of the Islamic fundamentalists is for each of us, Jew, Christian, Buddhist, et al., to assimilate (forcibly, whenever possible) to their tradition.
