Students Criticize President’s Approach
From Times Wire Reports
Students leading Iran’s wave of protests criticized President Mohammad Khatami for being too soft on hard-line rivals and said reform might move faster without him.
Though recent large rallies have lambasted hard-line strongholds such as the judiciary, Khatami is being called on by some to resign.
“Some students may have come to the conclusion that his absence would help reforms proceed better,” said Reza Delbari of the Islamic Students Assn. at Tehran’s Amir Kabir University.
