Carols from many lands

Ventura Master Chorale will present two stagings of its “A World of Carols” at San Buenaventura Mission. “Joy to the World” will bookend the program, which features carols from Spain, Poland, France, Nigeria and elsewhere. Also featured is a new arrangement of “Silent Night” by chorale tenor Kenneth Helms. The chorale’s children’s choir will sing an arrangement merging “Away in the Manger” and Brahms’ “Lullaby,” plus other works.

Ships ahoy for the holidays

On Saturday, more than 40 boats will be dressed up with illuminations for the 26th annual Ventura Harbor Parade of Lights. The watercraft, minding the “Holidays Around the World” theme, will set sail at 7 p.m. at the public launch ramps and make two laps around the harbor. New for this year is a fireworks grand finale. During the day there will be assorted live bands and strolling carolers.
