Nolte Pleads No Contest to DUI, Gets Probation
From Times Staff and Wire Reports
Actor Nick Nolte pleaded no contest Thursday to driving under the influence of drugs and was sentenced to three years’ probation, which includes counseling and drug testing.
Superior Court Judge Lawrence Mira warned Nolte, 61, that he would be jailed for six months if he violated conditions of his probation.
Nolte was driving on Pacific Coast Highway, swerving into oncoming lanes, when he was stopped Sept. 11 near his Malibu home. He said after sentencing that he had taken “a synergistic amino acid thing.”
