Barber Held for Helping Women Pass as Boys
From Times Wire Reports
Iran’s moral police have arrested a male barber who gave short haircuts to young women so they could pass as boys and appear in public without covering themselves from head to toe, a newspaper said.
Under Iran’s interpretation of Islamic dress codes, women must cover their hair and wear long, loose garments to conceal their shapes when in public.
The conservative Kayhan newspaper said police in the city of Esfahan arrested the barber and his assistant, a woman dressed as a man, acting on tips from the public.
