From Times Wire Reports

Victims of sexual abuse in Ireland’s Roman Catholic schools criticized the church’s $110-million compensation pledge as insufficient.

Under an agreement announced late Wednesday, the church is to contribute the sum to a larger government-run fund.

The government agreed to indemnify the church against further legal action by victims in Ireland. The Vatican declined to comment on the deal.

Victims and their advocates argued that the agreement foists much of the cost of compensation on taxpayers.
