From Times Wire Reports

Cambodia says it still is determined to bring Khmer Rouge leaders to justice for genocide despite the United Nations’ announcement that it won’t help the government establish a court.

The U.N. on Friday abandoned 4 1/2 years of negotiations with the Cambodian government on a U.N. role in a court to try Khmer Rouge leaders, saying there was no guarantee that the tribunal would be independent and impartial.

The Khmer Rouge is widely held responsible for the slayings of 1 million or more Cambodians from 1975 to 1979.
