Norwegians May Be 1-2 Combination Again

Share

On the longest day of the Olympics for skiers, boyhood friends from Norway, Lasse Kjus and Kjetil Andre Aamodt, could finish 1-2 in the men’s combined. It wouldn’t be the first time. They finished 1-2 eight years ago in Lillehammer, with Kjus winning the gold. He won silver four years ago in Nagano and has five Olympic and world medals in the event. But Aamodt is reigning world champion.

They might be pushed by American Bode Miller, who has been one of the world’s best slalom skiers this season. But he suffers in the downhill. He finished second to Aamodt in a recent World Cup competition without going into a downhill crouch because it would have been too tiring. The competition includes one downhill and two slaloms, skied within a six-hour period at Snowbasin.
