Dominik Hasek finished off the Minnesota Wild before turning his full attention to the Olympics.

Hasek recorded his fourth shutout this season and the 60th of his career, and the Detroit Red Wings defeated the Wild, 2-0, Wednesday night at St. Paul, Minn.

The Czech goaltender heads to Salt Lake City to represent his country in the Olympics. Ten other Detroit players also are participating in the Games.

“We finished our jobs tonight,” said Hasek, who made 21 saves. “Now we can forget about the NHL for a moment.”

Hasek spent most of his time diving on the ice, helping to hold off the Wild.

Kirk Maltby and Mathieu Dandenault scored for Detroit, both on assists from Steve Yzerman.

The Wild hung tough with the league-leading Red Wings.

“We wanted to challenge them and make them earn the win and I think that’s what they had to do,” Minnesota’s Darby Hendrickson said. “Our effort was great, maybe our best all year.”

But despite Dwayne Roloson’s 22 saves, the Wild couldn’t crack Detroit’s defense. Minnesota was 0 for 5 on the power play.

“They had two great chances on the power play, but other than that, we played solid,” Yzerman said.

Colorado 3, St. Louis 1--Recently acquired forward Mike Keane assisted on Dan Hinote’s go-ahead goal and Patrick Roy made 33 saves for the Avalanche at Denver.

Rookie Radim Vrbata scored for Colorado and Greg de Vries had an empty-net goal in the final minute. Pavol Demitra scored for St. Louis.

Zhamnov tied the score, 3-3, at 7:43 of the second period and put the Blackhawks ahead, 4-3, at 9:44.

Valeri Bure, Marcus Nilson and Bill Lindsay gave Florida a 3-0 advantage early in the second period.

Dallas 4, New York Rangers 2--Mike Modano and Joe Nieuwendyk scored third-period goals to lift the Stars at Dallas.

Modano’s shot from the right circle with 9:34 to play put the Stars ahead, 3-2.
