Trusting Saddam
Professor Shibley Telhami (“Don’t Let Iraq Dictate Anti-Terrorism Policy,” Commentary, Feb. 13) is asking the American people to trust Saddam Hussein. Maybe the professor is right. Maybe we should not do anything and just wait to see if Hussein develops nuclear weapons.
I guess we then wait to see how Hussein uses the nuclear weapons--against Israel or against us. Now, if he uses them against us and fewer than 20,000 people die, I guess that’s not too bad. Yes, maybe the professor is right. I guess we should do nothing and trust Saddam Hussein.
