Qualcomm Wins Patent Case Filed by GTE Unit

Qualcomm Inc., a company that licenses patents for mobile phones used by 103 million people, said it won a patent infringement case against GTE Wireless Inc.

GTE Wireless filed suit in 1999, claiming Qualcomm copied the technology it had developed for determining which cellular system to use for a call when multiple systems are detected by the phone. Qualcomm shares fell 8 cents to $37.32 on Nasdaq.
