Heartburn for Security at New Orleans Airport
Two concourses at the New Orleans airport were evacuated because of a suspicious package found in a restroom. A bomb squad found containers of gumbo in the box.
About 1,000 Continental and Southwest airlines travelers were moved to other concourses and went through security again. The concourses were closed for five hours.
Officials said the box was suspicious because it was wrapped in newspaper clippings of long lines at the airport. Also, bomb-sniffing dogs “smelled something they were trained to smell,” said Jefferson Parish Sheriff Harry Lee.
