Although he is stronger in the upcoming slalom, Bode Miller has a solid chance for a medal in today’s giant slalom.

Early this season, Miller, who finished second in last week’s combined, became the first American to win a World Cup giant slalom race since Phil Mahre in 1983. Other contenders include France’s Frederic Covili, Norway’s Lasse Kjus and Austria’s Stephan Eberharter.
