Lane vs. Mikels for Supervisor

Share

In the past, I have written some letters to the editor citing the total nonperformance, noninterest of Supervisor [Judy] Mikels, except when it furthers her needs (as in redistricting).

We in Somis tried in vain to remove ourselves from her district, only to find she had maneuvered the largest slice of the pie for herself, which included an even larger portion of Somis.

She has been absolutely no friend to farmland or to the citizens under her domain. We would like to register a loud go for John Lane for supervisor.

This is our big opportunity to dislodge Mikels from our fate!

Lane is a gift to us. Let us take this gift and get him in office!

Judy Mikels deserves to be reelected. She is an independent thinker who is open, straightforward and approachable. It needs to be remembered that she voted against the infamous merger of Mental Health with Social Services that was rescinded a few months later. The failed merger brought forth an investigation of billing practices that we later learned were practiced in other counties as well. But Ventura County paid a heavy price as an example to others, and that price cost the county millions of dollars for a vote that Mikels did not contribute to.

Her interest in both mental health and safety issues is noteworthy. Appropriate placement or housing options for the mentally ill would significantly reduce the load on the police and sheriff’s deputies who spend many hours responding to mentally ill people who are homeless or ill-placed in the community. Better housing or placement options would reduce other costs as well. The county needs Mikels on its board.
