Selected home-video releases: “The Music Business: An Insider’s Guide to Breaking In.”

This would seem like a late-night infomercial on DVD if not for the big-name artists and execs who offer advice to budding musicians.

The lineup includes Sting, Elton John, Sheryl Crow, Enrique Iglesias, Rob Zombie, Barry Gibb, producer-record exec Jimmy Iovine and Atlantic Records founder Ahmet Ertegun, among dozens of others in the music business.

There’s plenty of practical--if fairly obvious--advice for musicians or those interested in the support side of the industry: the value of interning, understanding contracts and what companies are looking for in a demo.

The interviews are culled from an online music-industry primer available at www.insidesessions.com, and the DVD sells exclusively on that Web site. DVD, $24.95. (InsideSessions)

Other new releases:

“The Saint,” sets 3-4--Roger Moore is back as suave, high-rolling adventurer Simon Templar in the second batch of two-disc sets of the 1960s British TV series.

Each set contains seven episodes, with bonuses including broadcast trailers, production stills and a history of the “Saint” character. DVD sets, $39.95 each. (A&E;)

“The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the Eighth Dimension!”--A weird, fitfully funny film that’s risen to cult status since its 1984 release.

Peter Weller plays the dimension-traveling, rock-and-rolling title character, battling aliens and a mad scientist (John Lithgow) whose plot threatens Earth. DVD, $19.98. (MGM)

“Sound and Fury”--An absorbing Oscar-nominated documentary that traces the turmoil for a deaf couple faced with opening up a new world for their 5-year-old daughter with a revolutionary hearing implant.
