Tribe Wins Permission for Nevada-Style Casino
From Times Wire Reports
A California Indian tribe received permission last week to construct a $100-million Nevada-style casino outside Sacramento, where it is expected to draw gamblers who now head for Reno.
The U.S. Department of the Interior took trust to 49 acres near Roseville, northeast of Sacramento, on behalf of the United Auburn Indian Community.
Local opposition was muted after the tribe reached agreements with Placer County and surrounding communities that were praised by federal and county officials.
