Zambian President Levy Mwanawasa, who fought off bitter challenges to his Dec. 27 election, named a 20-member Cabinet and retained the post of defense minster for himself.

Emmanuel Kasonde was named finance minister, and Katele Kalumba was appointed foreign minister. Mwanawasa warned that he would not tolerate graft, which was rampant under his predecessor and mentor, Frederick Chiluba.

“Ministers will have no room for corruption or advancement of personal interest. Any betrayal of these ideals will lead to us parting company,” he told parliament.
