Medtronic Product Gets Recommendation

Medtronic Inc.’s experimental bone-growth device merits approval by the Food and Drug Administration, though further study on possible side effects should be required, the agency’s staff said.
Medtronic will ask an expert panel today to recommend approval of its InFuse Bone Graft device, which includes a genetically engineered protein, to treat a common cause of low-back pain called spinal disc degeneration.
