THQ Heeds Call of the Wireless

Share

THQ Inc., a Calabasas publisher of video and computer games, this week announced partnerships with Motorola Inc. and Sprint Corp. to sell and distribute games on next-generation cell phones.

THQ sells two games via Nextel Communications Inc. Company officials say THQ will sell as many as 30 downloadable games by year-end through Sprint and Nextel for $5.99 to $7.99 each, including “Tetris,” “Snood” and “Intellivision Skiing.”

For THQ, which garners about 40% of its revenue from games for hand-held consoles, the venture into wireless games is part of a broader push into selling games for mobile devices.
