From Times Wire Reports

South Korean President Kim Dae Jung apologized at a news conference for a spate of influence-peddling scandals that have ensnared senior officials.

Kim has not been accused of wrongdoing in any of the bribery scandals that have felled his appointees and aides.

Kim said he had “no plan yet” to reshuffle his 21-member Cabinet as he enters his final year of office.

South Korean newspapers have demanded that Kim appoint a neutral, technocratic Cabinet to curb political favoritism before local elections in June and presidential balloting in December.
