Greenpeace Silenced

Share

Re “Greenpeace to Halt Protests,” Jan. 9: During President Reagan’s term, I was arrested in Congress for shouting out my opposition to “Star Wars.” The charge of “disturbing the peace” included several hours in jail and a $100 fine. Now, almost 20 years later, I see Greenpeace, for its act of civil disobedience against “Star Wars,” has paid a $150,000 fine and promised not to do it again.

I’m so disappointed in Greenpeace for setting a precedent which, I’m afraid, will silence other activists in opposition to “Star Wars.”
