RealNetworks to Launch Subscriber Game Service

RealNetworks Inc. today is set to launch a monthly subscription service for its online RealOne Arcade games channel.

The service, called GamePass, costs $6.95 a month and lets customers buy computer games at a discount. Subscribers get a $6.95 monthly credit to apply toward purchasing a game.

They also get a $5 discount on every additional game purchase. RealNetworks has sold 700,000 games for $9.99 to $19.99 since launching the channel a year ago, said Andrew Wright, general manager for games at the Seattle firm.
