WINNER: Spanish team Once, with a time of 1 hour 19 minutes 49 seconds.

HOW OTHERS FARED: Three-time champion Lance Armstrong’s U.S. Postal Service team was second, 16 seconds behind. Igor Gonzalez de Galdeano of Once took the overall leader’s yellow jersey, with teammate Joseba Beloki second, four seconds behind. Armstrong is third overall, seven seconds behind the leader.

NEXT STAGE: A 120.9-mile course from Soissons to Rouen.
