DeMya Walker had 21 points as the Portland Fire held off the Minnesota Lynx, 75-72, Wednesday before 12,108 at Minneapolis, its seventh consecutive win.
Katie Smith, with 21 points for the Lynx, surpassed the 2,000-point mark for her career, the ninth player in league history to reach that goal.
Utah 82, Indiana 69--Margo Dydek scored 16 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Starzz before 9,560 at Indianapolis. Utah overcame a 31-point performance by Olympia Scott-Richardson.
Detroit 66, New York 63--Swin Cash had 16 points before 10,893 at Auburn Hills, Mich., as Detroit (2-16) improved to 2-6 since Bill Laimbeer replaced Greg Williams as coach.
