Minority women managers and executives are making more money than they did three years ago and are getting promoted more often, according to a study by the research group Catalyst.

Of the 368 minority female managers polled over a three-year period that ended in 2001, average overall income rose about 40%, the report said. Of those polled, 57% were promoted at least once in the period. Nine percent were demoted.

Respondents cited networking and an increase in women with mentors as the top reasons for their improved financial situations.
