Priest Pleads Guilty in Child Pornography Case
A Roman Catholic priest pleaded guilty to charges of receiving child pornography while serving as a pastor at a Baltimore cathedral.
Authorities said Father Thomas Rydzewski, 35, last year had pornographic images of children on the hard drive of his computer in his rectory office at the Cathedral of Mary Our Queen.
He was one of three priests on staff until his arrest on Dec. 12, 2001. The cathedral serves a parish of about 2,000 households in north-central Baltimore.
The Archdiocese of Baltimore had no immediate comment on the case.
Rydzewski faces a maximum of 15 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
