A judge has dropped all charges against an Arizona man who was the only one arrested in a Laughlin casino melee April 27 between rival motorcycle gangs that left three bikers dead.

Laughlin Justice Court Judge Billy Moma signed the prosecutors’ motion to dismiss the charges Thursday, releasing 32-year-old Calvin Brett Schaefer of all 13 felony charges, including conspiracy, attempted murder and gang murder, a court clerk confirmed. Prosecutors had said the charges carried a maximum prison term of life without parole.

“All the charges are dropped and bail is fully exonerated,” said David Chesnoff, Schaefer’s Las Vegas attorney. “He’s a free man.”

Clark County prosecutors dropped the charges because they could not give Schaefer’s attorneys copies of videotapes of the brawl without jeopardizing the ongoing investigation, Chesnoff said.

Chesnoff said charges could be brought against Schaefer again.
