Heartfelt Thanks to a Dedicated Crusader for Gay, Civil Rights

Share

Ijust wanted to drop you a quick note and thank you for your poignant portrait of Morris Kight and his retirement from the L.A. County Human Relations Commission (Al Martinez column, “L.A. Gay Rights Icon Loud, Proud, Moving On,” July 22).

As a 25-year-old gay man who sometimes feels like my generation is too busy living in the present to concern themselves with the importance of our past, I always greet any acknowledgment of our civil rights pioneers with the greatest of appreciation.

It is through their blood, sweat and tears that people like myself get to live in such relative freedom and are inspired to continue the tradition of fighting for what is right.

Thank you, Mr. Kight, for your unwavering dedication to our community.
