Wal-Mart Same-Store Sales Rise in May
Bloomberg News
Wal-Mart Stores Inc. said same-store sales rose 6.2% in May, more than the world’s largest retailer had forecast, as it gains sales at the expense of department stores and grocery chains.
Total sales in the four-week period that ended Friday climbed 12% to $18.34 billion. Last month, Wal-Mart forecast a 4% to 6% increase in sales at stores open at least a year.
Wal-Mart shares rose 96 cents to $54.96 in NYSE trading.
