Whoopi Goldberg has sold her Malibu home for about $5 million. The actress-comedian had owned the home since September 2000, when she purchased it for about $3.6 million.

The contemporary-style, 2,300-square-foot home has a two-bedroom main house and a detached guest house/studio with a kitchen and bathroom. The property also has 40 feet of beach frontage with sand dune and ocean views.

Built in 1999, the home was completely remodeled before Goldberg purchased it.

Goldberg, 46, was host of the 74th Academy Awards on March 24. It was the fourth time she had hosted the annual awards show telecast. A few months earlier, she starred in the TNT movie “Call Me Claus.”

Goldberg also has become a successful executive producer of shows such as “Hollywood Squares,” the Lifetime series “Strong Medicine” and the 2001 Lifetime movie “What Makes a Family,” for which Barbra Streisand was also an executive producer.

The Grammy-winning comedian and founding member of Comic Relief also earned an Oscar for best supporting actress for “Ghost” (1990).

Mark McGwire, who in 1998 broke Roger Maris’ major league record of 61 home runs and finished the season with a then-record 70 home runs, and his wife, Stephanie, have listed their Huntington Harbour waterfront estate in Huntington Beach at just under $3.4 million.

The couple put their home on the market because they are planning to build a larger home in the Irvine development of Shady Canyon.

The first baseman, 38, retired last year from the St. Louis Cardinals. Chicago Cub star Sammy Sosa also surpassed Maris’ record in 1998, as did San Francisco Giant left fielder Barry Bonds in 2001. Bonds finished that season with a record 73 home runs.

McGwire, a native of Pomona whose parents live in Mission Viejo, has owned the Huntington Harbour home since 1991, when he first remodeled it. In 1995, he again remodeled the home, built in 1969. He and his wife were married in April.

Their home has four bedrooms in about 5,000 square feet. The house has a curved glass front door; a two-story stone turret with a round skylight off a rooftop patio/garden; a two-story waterfall that empties into a moat at the entrance; and a saltwater aquarium that can be viewed from the entry, living room and sunroom.

There is a view of the main channel from the living room or great room. The home also has a wine room; a fireplace in the master suite; a dock for two boats, including a 50-foot one; and parking for two vehicles and a sports car.

Steve and Sandy Powers at Star Real Estate in Huntington Beach have the listing.

Lawrence J. Ellison, listed by Forbes magazine as one of the five richest men in the world, has purchased a Malibu home for close to its $14.5-million asking price.

Ellison is chairman and CEO of Northern California-based Oracle Corp., which weathered the dot-com crash better than most computer-related companies. More recently, Oracle has been involved in an imbroglio over an ill-fated $95-million computer software contract with the state of California.

In late May, Ellison captured the inaugural Sausalito Cup after winning all three races against five vintage America’s Cup yachts on San Francisco Bay.

Ellison’s new home in Malibu is believed to be a retreat, not a main residence. It has five bedrooms and 5.5 bathrooms in about 6,100 square feet. The Tuscan villa-style home, with 60 feet of beachfront, also has mountain and ocean views, four patios, two fireplaces and an indoor/outdoor wet bar.

The house was built in the late ‘80s but was recently refurbished. The home was listed as being for sale or for lease at $60,000 a month. Katie Bentzen of Pritchett-Rapf & Associates, Malibu, and June Scott of June Scott Estates, a Coldwell Banker company in Beverly Hills, had the listing, and Kurt Rappaport of Westside Estate Agency, Beverly Hills, represented the buyer, sources said.

Kevin Wendle, CEO and co-founder of the Internet movie guide Ifilm, has sold his three-house compound in Bel-Air for close to $21 million, according to Westside Realtors. The asking price was $24.8 million.

Wendle had owned the first of the three houses since 1997. He turned the 5,200-square-foot house, built in 1934, into a 7,500-square-foot estate with five bedrooms plus a guest house. The Spanish-style home, on a 1.2-acre promontory, also has a screening room, city views and a pool.

Wendle later bought and remodeled two adjacent houses, which became part of the compound he just sold. The compound is on about five acres.

Before Ifilm, Wendle, 42, was a co-founder of CNet and was head of programming and marketing for Fox TV, where he was also involved in developing such series as “Married ... With Children” and “The Simpsons.”

The buyer was described by Westside realty sources as a Canadian architect.

Brian A. Green, who played Tori Spelling’s love interest David Silver on “Beverly Hills 90210” (1990-2000), has sold a Mediterranean-style home he owned in the Outpost Estates area of Hollywood for slightly more than $1 million.

Green listed the home because he bought another home in the Hollywood Hills about a year ago for nearly $1.7 million.

The house he sold has two bedrooms and three bathrooms in 3,100 square feet. Built in 1983, it had been remodeled to include a state-of-the-art recording studio, where Green played with his band. The home also has a mini-lagoon and a waterfall.

Since “Beverly Hills 90210,” Green, 28, has appeared in the Showtime series “Resurrection Blvd.”

Dolores Blumenfeld of Paramount Rodeo Realty, Woodland Hills, had the listing, sources said.

Clothing designer David Dart has sold his Hollywood home for about $1.3 million. Before Dart bought it four years ago, the home was an Italian antique dealer’s private showroom for 40 years. Among his clients were Greta Garbo and Marilyn Monroe.

Built in 1926, the Spanish-style home has five bedrooms in 3,600 square feet. Dart restored the house, which has a large living room with beamed ceilings, a library, a formal dining room and a walled and gated courtyard with a fountain. The home also has city views.

Dart, in his late 30s, has a pied-a-terre in West Hollywood and a home in New Orleans. He has showrooms in New York, Dallas, Atlanta, Santa Monica and L.A. His corporate offices are in the City of Industry. His designs are carried by Bloomingdale’s, Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue and Nordstrom.

Patrick Norman of DBL Realtors represented both sides of the deal, and he represented Dart when he bought the house.
