From Times Wire Reports
An out-of-control passenger train going backward hit an oncoming cargo train in central Tanzania, killing more than 100 people. An additional 800 were injured.
Transportation Minister Mark Mwandosya told reporters at the scene, Igandu, about 55 miles southeast of the political capital, Dodoma, that rescuers had pulled out 103 bodies by nightfall.
Railway officials said the train was climbing a steep hill when it experienced mechanical problems and rolled backward.
