Children Going Hungry

I have to disagree with your June 22 editorial, “Too Much Hunger by Half.” You state, “Children in California go hungry because state and county officials can’t make the food stamp program work right.” No, it’s not that at all.

Children go hungry, with very few exceptions, because their parents were irresponsible in having them when they could not afford them in the first place. Kids are really expensive (I know!), and not everyone has the financial resources to take care of them properly. If you can’t afford them just yet, hold off until you can.
