vs. Washington, 7:30

Site--Staples Center.

Radio--KPLS (830).

Records--Sparks 10-1, Mystics 10-2.

Record vs. Mystics (2001)--1-0.

Update--Some would consider this meeting a potential preview of the WNBA Finals, although both Los Angeles and Washington have far to go to reach that goal. Even so, the teams lead their respective conferences and have the two best records in the WNBA. Still Washington, which slipped past Sacramento on Tuesday, 87-86, in double overtime, knows this Western road swing that ends Friday in Portland can legitimize it as a title contender. Mystic forward Chamique Holdsclaw, revitalized by energy brought by draft pick Stacey Dales-Schuman, is having a superstar season and leads the league in scoring (21.6) and rebounding (12.5). Lisa Leslie (17.6 points, 11.6 rebounds) leads the Sparks in most statistical categories but clearly is benefiting from the scoring of Mwadi Mabika, Tamecka Dixon and DeLisha Milton. The Sparks’ offensive balance is the main reason they lead the league in scoring at 78.6 points a game.
