Ruing LACMA’s Tent

Share

Christopher Knight carefully detailed the cultural importance and economic sense behind a free admission to the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (“Why Pay to See Our Own Art?,” June 9). Unfortunately, Knight is playing dumb about the real problem at LACMA. Knight’s unflinching support of the plan to demolish the museum, close it for five years and replace it with an ill-conceived circus tent is distressing. The plan has been proposed without a consensus among the people of Los Angeles.

LACMA’s focus should be on quality programming and the maintenance of positive connections to the community that surrounds it.
