PG&E; Offers Revised Bankruptcy Plan
From Times Staff and Wire Reports
Pacific Gas & Electric Co. has amended its plan for reorganizing its finances, scaling back a sweeping proposal to preempt dozens of state laws and regulations.
The company altered its plan in response to a bankruptcy judge’s ruling against the utility’s request for broad permission to preempt state law.
PG&E; said it would not seek preemption of environmental, health and safety regulations, but would try to get around state laws regulating sale of property and assets.
A hearing on the amended plan is scheduled for March 26.
