Mammoth Gas Guzzlers

Share

So do the senators who opposed the stiffer fuel standards (March 14) feel it is better to drill for oil in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge than to suggest that maybe we could drive something smaller than a Ford Excursion or Chevy Tahoe? Doesn’t it bother them that our country far exceeds the rest of the globe in energy consumption? I do not consider trying to save gasoline and our environment “an assault on an American freedom.” Every time I try to pull out of a parking space next to one of these huge gas guzzlers, I have to hope no car is coming, as it is nearly impossible to see around them. I would not miss fewer of them on the road.

Working to protect our environment and decrease our dependence on foreign oil is a worthy goal.
