Re “‘Insufficient Evidence’ Ends Whitewater Case,” March 21: I’m sure I’m not the only one who was amazed, shocked and disgusted at your placement of former President Clinton’s exoneration in the Whitewater case. After years of selling millions of papers with headlines touting the lies and innuendoes on all these “Clintongates,” which any intelligent American knew was so much Republican sewage-spin run amok, you’d think you would have the class, if not the conscience, to run the truth that $70 million was wasted on an innocent man somewhere a bit more visible than Page 16. Whitewater was front-page news when it was lies; funny where you decide to put it when the truth comes out.
If any good comes from this horrific journalistic slight, it is that maybe now the jackbooted parade of right-wing reactionaries screaming “liberal press” will shut up.
