School Calendar Quirks

I enjoyed reading “Calendar Can Leave Students Out in Cold” (March 17), on the multitrack school calendar. There is one group of students who suffer in this system: Fifth-graders attending a multitrack school who graduate in May receive almost a four-month holiday when transferring to a middle school on a single-track system. When is the LAUSD going to address this problem systematically?
