Wine of the Week

This elegant Spanish red from the Tarragona appellation just south of Barcelona has a finish that belies its relatively modest price tag. Dry, austere, fascinating, made from Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon blended with a little Carinyena (Carignane) and Garnatxa (Grenache), it’s quite a wine for the money. Finca L’Argata comes from the 200-year-old Joan d’Anguera estate, one of the first in Spain to plant Syrah in the late ‘70s. It’s now run by brothers Josep and Joan d’Anguera, who are making a name for themselves with Finca L’Argata. A wine and a winery to watch.
