Candidate Is Killed Ahead of Elections
From Times Wire Reports
A candidate from a leading party in Ukraine’s parliamentary elections died after being shot at his apartment building less than two days before the vote set for today.
Mykola Shkriblyak, vice governor of the Ivano-Frankivsk region in western Ukraine, died early Saturday after the Friday night attack by unidentified gunmen, his United Social Democratic Party said.
The motive for the attack was unclear, but the party said its timing indicated it was aimed at intimidating his colleagues.
