Effective Drainage Prevents Damage

Water is a precious commodity, particularly in drought years, but rain can be a cause of serious damage to homes.

Poor watershed and drainage will cause soil to swell, leading to cracks over windows and doors. It can cause doors to stick and cause rot in siding and framing under the house. Even though the winter rains are over, it’s still a good idea to waterproof your home by installing roof gutters and downspouts.

Make sure that downspouts discharge into drainage pipes that carry water away from the house. Soil or concrete that surround the home should slope away from the foundation to further minimize damage.
