London Synagogue Is Defiled by Vandals
BRITAIN
Jewish leaders condemned an attack on a North London synagogue in which vandals painted a swastika on a lectern, smashed windows and defiled holy books.
Vandals forced their way into the synagogue in Finsbury Park Saturday, ransacked the building and splattered paint on the Holy Ark, where sacred scrolls are kept.
“It is the first incident in this country that is comparable to recent attacks in France and other European countries,” said rabbi spokesman Jeremy Newmark.
