A 39-year-old Arleta man was convicted Wednesday in the fatal shooting of a San Fernando woman more than 15 years ago.

A Superior Court jury deliberated for a day before convicting Omar Montez Zepeda of one count of first-degree murder in the Dec. 28, 1986, slaying of Patricia Lemus, 21, in a parking lot at Laurel Canyon Boulevard and Rinaldi Street in San Fernando.

Zepeda, who has been living in Mexico since the slaying, could be sentenced to 26 years to life in prison when he returns to court June 7, said Deputy Dist. Atty. Shellie L. Samuels.
