Camp With Al Qaeda Links Raided, Police Say
Authorities raided a terrorist training camp with suspected links to Al Qaeda at an Islamic school in the northern Philippines after a clash in which nine militants were arrested, police said.
The police said they confiscated high-caliber firearms, nine grenades, a grenade launcher, a night-vision telescope, a revolver and several unspecified documents at the camp. They did not explain why they believe the camp was connected to Al Qaeda.
The camp was discovered Friday based on intelligence from a suspected Islamic militant captured after the clash Thursday.
