Re “Tax Plan Works; Foreign Policy Flails,” Commentary, April 30: James Pinkerton, in his economic evaluation of George the younger, casually ignores the recently forecasted doubling of the debt in this year’s budget. Do we assume the free-market ideas President Bush inherited include the run-up in the national debt under Reagan and the disastrous economic policy of George the elder that left us mired in recession for most of his term?
