78 Dead in Fighting in Northwest Region

Days of fierce combat between far-right paramilitary groups, leftist rebels and the army have claimed at least 78 lives in northwestern Colombia, authorities said.
The Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia, or FARC, and paramilitaries fought near the village of Campamento, in Antioquia province, about 200 miles northwest of Bogota, the capital.
The army said it entered the area Wednesday. It reported one soldier and 12 FARC rebels dead.
