Honda Issues Recall of 1.3 Million Vehicles

Honda Motor Co. is recalling 1.3 million Honda and Acura cars and passenger trucks to replace an ignition switch that can cause a vehicle to stall while in motion or fail to start. The company is recalling certain 1997 to 2000 models of the Accord, Civic and Prelude, the CR-V sport utility vehicle and the Odyssey minivan. It’s also recalling some 1999 Acura TL sedans and certain 1997 to 1999 CL coupes.

No accidents or injuries have been reported. Owners of affected vehicles will be contacted by Honda and asked to take their car or truck to a dealership for repair.

Honda and Acura owners can find out if their vehicles are involved by registering on the “owner link” section of the company Web sites at www.honda .com or www.acura.com.

In U.S. trading Honda shares fell 59 cents to $22.03 on the New York Stock Exchange.
