Children Tested for Exposure to Parasite

Dozens of children at the UC Santa Barbara child-care center are being tested for a raccoon parasite that can cause blindness, brain damage or death.

An 11-month-old fell ill last month with a parasite often found in raccoon feces, and experts believe he may have contracted the extremely rare infection at the campus day-care center.
