Warner Bros. Records President to Leave

Warner Bros. Records President Phil Quartararo soon will leave the Burbank label, home to such acts as the Hives, Enya and Linkin Park, company sources said.

Quartararo, who joined Warner nearly five years ago after a stint at EMI Group’s Virgin label, has been a respected figure in record promotion circles for 20 years.

Warner Bros., however, faltered under the management of Quartararo and former Chairman Russ Thyret.

The label has rebounded in recent months after the appointment of industry veteran Tom Whalley as chairman.

Sources said Quartararo rejected an offer to oversee Warner Bros.’ promotion strategies and is seeking a different job within AOL Time Warner Inc. Quartararo and the company declined to comment.
